About

Data Center

Our hardware is located at Hurricane Electric's Fremont 2 data center at 48233 Warm Springs Blvd, Fremont, California. It's a purpose-built facility of over 200,000 square feet housing roughly 3,000 cabinets. Security is handled with card-key access and video surveillance throughout, and every cabinet is individually locked. Onsite staff are on hand 24/7/365 for access and remote hands.

Connectivity

Fremont 2 is the facility our hardware lives in — it is not our network. The building gives us access to 13 Internet exchange points, 295 networks, and 8 carriers running diverse fiber, and we build on top of that with our own mix of upstream providers. We are multi-homed across several independent transit providers over redundant connections, so no single carrier — Hurricane Electric included — is a point of failure. The result is gobs of bandwidth and real route diversity for maximum reliability and scalability.

Power

Power is fully redundant: A and B feeds to every cabinet, conditioned and distributed through PDUs, backed by multiple redundant UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems and on-site generators that keep the facility up through extended utility outages.

Cooling

Multiple redundant HVAC systems keep the data center at the right temperature year-round. A hot-aisle/cold-aisle layout with overhead cold-air ducts delivers cooling straight to the equipment for efficient, even airflow.
